update on my water loss problem (posted the other day if anyone remembers)(car is mk1 punto sporting 1.2)

seem to be loosing water. had the coolent system compression tested, no leaks were found, had the head gasket tested and seems ok (was the test with the liquid in the coolent bottle that changes colour) been told by someone else that it could be the start of a head gasket going, the water level goes from the max line to min over about 100miles and then drops below that if i leave it. oil level doesnt change, car runs fine even from cold.

the head gasket was done not long ago, and before it was done the car ran horrible from cold, major misfiring etc...but i dont have this, this time. was told it could have cracked over one of the water ways only (at the moment).

does anyone have any ideas at all?

Cheers Matt.

Hi. I had the same problem a while ago and took me about 2 months to work out the problem. This may sound silly but check the floor under both passanger AND drivers side for damp patches. I noticed mine was damp but couldnt put my finger on it AND i was loosing alot of water at the same time. It turned out to be my heater matrix (after flooding my car lol) I'm no mechanic but just a suggestion
