2002 fiat punto, two blue keys, one I have just lost and the other has snapped in half (have both bits) options! Am I looking at the fiat dealership for a replacement or can I take the broken key to locksmith and try and get them to make a spare coded key from the broken one!

ok, so its only the dealership that can supply me a new key? Bet then that its gonna cost me a arm an a leg! Anyone no how much?

Cheaper option may be to take bits to one of the after market guys or locksmith with the right equipment. Keys about £20 each + code from fiat £20 + £40 key coding and reset. You must be looking at £100. Not too bad considering you have lost all of the cars security.
Tony.

key £38...codecard(if you dont have it) £5.00...programming(half hour)£25 = £68.
Remember its a code 2 system also there are alot of crap keys being sold by locksmiths/shoe & key cutting shops, they simply buy cheap keys which can give problems.
As for costing a 'arm & a leg' a 2002 punto would of cost you a few quid in the first place so £60-100 is nothing really.

as a temp solution, you can take the 2 broken bits to a key cutters, get a no code key cut with them, then tape your plastic bit off broken key to the new key, should work, but only temp, get new key(s) from fiat, you will need them anyway when it comes to time to sell the car

Fiats want £150 +vat! What is the code card? At the mo I have got a key cut at a locksmiths and have taped the broken key to it, but this is a temp measure. Can I get the code for my key(car) from Fiat? Whats a code two system? I no what your all thinking but I am not familiar with fiats as this is my first one... cheers!

What about if its just a basic blue key thats been lost?

This is what has happened to me (fiat punto M reg 55sx 5 door) and im absolutely gutted - only had the car for 1 hour

If I go to a fiat dealership will they sort me out for £38?

All advice gratefully appreciated - cheers

Also can I just buy a key set and locks from a scrapyard instead?

How would I prove what key I need? Is it the engravings on the key barrel?
