I had the cat swapped for a sports cat and midpipe for a group n ragazzon midpipe today and yes it is LOUD, too loud tbh, have to keep under 2000 so i can still hear, lol! However when revving there is a tinny resonance coupled with the bassy note it had before, sounds like it is coming from the midpipe, is this normal (bet it isnt, lol), if not what could it be and if so once coked up a bit will it go away a bit, vid below (although camera speaker cannot pick up tinny noise too well!);

What do you think?

Cheers mate, i will give it a few weeks see what happens, but googled decat and tinny / rasping noise the concensus seems to be wrap it in exhaust heat wrap (which i have got), or it could be a loose heat shield?

Today i looked in the back of the car and thought 'its that the sports cat that is supposed to be fitted to my car?', and looked underneath and he has fanbricated a decat section, so that is why it is so loud. I think it is because the flange on the front of the sports cat wouldnt fit the supersprint manifold, and the flange on the back wouldnt fit against the ragazzon midpipe! So if anyone wants a cheap sports cat it will fit with a bit of work, its here;

I still have the original cat, so swap it back in come MOT time. Also have the original manifold so if this one f**ks up, its all cool.

I now remember the mechanic saying he fitted the ragazzon midpipe but left the OEM midpipe silencer in place as otherwise it would be illegaly loud, i thought this should be removed myself, am i right?

This sounds a mess, how about you get us a photo or video of what's actually under the car?

Will grab a photo later, whats actually on the car is;

Supersprint manifold;
Decat
Ragazzon midpipe (with OEM silencer)
Powerflow backbox

The reason for the problem with the midpipe is the powerflow backbox has a short pipe at the back that is welded onto the OEM pipe, but if you buy a supersprint backbox, the section of pipe that joins onto the midpipe is about twice that, that was provided on the powerflow box, so if i had a ragazzon or rupersprin backbox too, the midpipe would have bypassed this silencer and been a straight through! Going to get the car booked in to have this silencer removed asap!

The noise from the zaust is still there, seems to cut in at about 2500 - 2800 revs, before this it is completley standard. what could be causing it? It sounds like metal vibrating very rapidly, looked at backbox and this is touching the bumper, could this be causing it? Seen as the t**t if a mechaninc left the oem midpipe silencer in i thought it may have shook the baffles loose it here?

Cheers

gex18, who are you talking to? Me?.. I wouldn't know where to start in terms of building one from scratch, what I did was chop off large sections of exhaust and replace them with larger bits, leaving the flanges, silencers etc alone.

Sorry man, that was copied and pasted from a pm, asking someone to build a sub bix for me, just forgot to remove the part about the box, lol! The noise might just be a charecteristic if stainless stell straight through exhausts?

Cheers
