My wife's 97 elx 16v suffers from judder occasionally when pulling away, with some gearstick wobble.
I have been advised that it could be the gearbox bearings.
Can anybody advise on this and how much to correct.
Thanks

I had that porblem but now it has stoped but the gear stick never wobbled... thats probably the cause of my new problem that my car wont go into reverse gear now so da 6th gear bearing has gone.

Hi Gazza
This is more likly to be caused by a faulty clutch.
No way gearbox bearings
If you have had a clutch before was it a recon item because they are bad for clutch judder.

gearbox bearings is given away by the noise disappearing when you push the clutch down. It's a rattle and doesn't cause judder. David's suggestion is the most likely one.

Cheers Guy's,
Car goes OK and doesn't really cause too much of a problem so will have it looked when serviced.
Quite a nippy motor though.
