for those of you considering fitting central locking to you beloved machines, DONT! it is without doubt, the most fiddly, annoying, awkward and frustrating thing i have ever done.[:(!][:(!][:(!]

"how hard can it be" i thought. "i've got an engineering degree" dont listen to yourself!!! mounting the motors is OK, but lining up the linkage rod is impossible! the wiring is a pain thanks to Fiat's weatherproof connector from door to car. and then theres window winder handles. they were not designed to come off. ever.

Damn it.

Could have told you this before B)

Best to buy an SX and have done with it. Mind you I just fitted remote locking upgrade, and that was hardly easy either and still hasn't been done 'properly', need a relay to really distribute the power properly and work the lights.

Spirito di Punto | M-reg 55SX, black, 5dr. Clear repeaters. Remote locking fitted, no light confirmation yet though - need relay fitted

The windows wipers pop off easy if you can find the clip, theres a little hairp pin type clip just behind the handle. I have fitted this a microscan central locking kit and god dam it was the most fiddly thing ive ever done in my life! like you say fitting the motors is quite easy and threading through the wired and installing a seal from the door to the body is easy. Lining up the rods is a whole new kettle of fish. Mine worked fine then stopped after about 3 months so i sold the car. and bought a sporting with central locking fit :)

Sensible mods go far

just done the other door in 2 hours.... a bit quicker than door 1 (took a day). wiring is tomorrows job.

Is it normal to take freah wires to the battery terminals or tap onto existing ones in the interia? any ideas anyone? it needs a reasonble ammount of current and a 15A fuse. hmmm:(
