ok, here we go again, the fourth prob with the car in 3 weeks. I seem to spend most of my spare time on here and at the mechanics.

lastest trick is this, since the weekend I notice when I brake from doing 40 mph+ the (!) brake warning light flashes on for about 3 secs, when the car becomes stationary- then goes off. at first I thought crikey and checked the brake fluid level, which is full. It doesn't come on when I brake doing less then 40mph or when I don't stop and the brakes seem fine, no different than normal, the handbrake also seems ok.

I'm not daft, so took it to my local garage (who treat me as a member of the family, I've been there so much with the punto lately), same thing happened when me and the (rather tasty) mechanic took the car out, he tried braking also with the car in neutral, same things, he couldn't see any leaks, checked the brakes and greased the clutch cable (as bit dry and squeaky), checked the connectors to the brake fluid sensor things, but it's still happening.

I've rang FIAT in Peterborough, it's going to be hooked up to the computer again, second time in two weeks... does anyone have any ideas please, I'm not mechanic, but the only suggestion I can come up with after reading a few electric prob posts on here, is could the voltage be dropping which is triggering the light?? if so, is it my battery, or something more expensive (rest of electrics seem ok) also if it is could it have explained my recent steering failiure https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-technical/67051-please-help-power-steering-failure.html (which hasn't happened again for 2 1/2 weeks so fingers crossed).

Or am I better cutting my losses and getting rid of it before something else goes wrong or it blows up? which I don't really want to do , but it's one thing after another and I'm fast losing all confidence in it.

Any suggestions welcome (W-reg 45000, 1.2 8v)

I'd renew the brake fluid resevoir (switch is part of it) you can sometimes drain the resevoir & refill as the switch sticks but long term better to renew.Nothing to do with voltage.

And get that steering fixed.

Mine was doing that and i had to change the front pads, even though they still had a bit of meat left on them.
