I am soon to be purchasing a pair of cobra sidewinder bucket seats and would like to now if the mk1 subframes have the same bolt pattern as the mk2 subframes? Also i understand there is an airbag in these seats, adn will have to attach a 5amp fuse to the original connectors so the airbag error light on the dash doesnt appear? Any one with a HGT done this and does it work?

Regards

Anthony

have changed seats but have put up with airbag warning light:( if you find away to switch it off let us know.
as far as the sub frames no idea bought mk2 ones and still had to modify.

Hi mate, does this light affect any of the other airbags? Where is this airbag connector located? Also did you try addint the 5amp fuses? What i would suggest is to get this reset by fiat or mechaninc who has necessary computer / programme to do it, disconnect battery, add 5 amp fuse using wire and a blade fuse / blade fuse clamp, reattach fuse and i think the light should stay off?

Regards

Anthony

once the light comes on it can only be switched off by resetting the airbag ecu, this can only be done using a fiat computer or equivalent. if you use the fuse trick fisrt and then get the airbag reset it should stay off.

when i say stay off it'll probably last about 5 mins and then come back on because they always come back on. my girlfrineds car has been back to fiat twice for the airbag lihgt, they just change a wire and reset it hoping you wont come back. most the fiats i've seen have the airbag light on, and most citroens, and many other makes, its a well known problem due to the sensitivity of the airbag system.

my advice, take the bulb out on the dash. its free, quick, easy and permanent

I may be way of the mark hear but I think I remember reading somewhere that they can fail you on the MOT for the following:

- Air bag light staying on
- Air bag light not coming on

As I said I could be wrong but this is just what I read in one of the old Haynes/Max Power manuals in the section about changing a steering wheel with an air bag for one without.

No I have asked at the dealer and a MOT garage The advice I had was it will not fail MOT as it is not part of the test.

Ah good idea

See your always one step ahead of me mate, I bow to your wisdom :D

I still dont think Im gunna be ripping the Punto apart, save that for the project car thats due to commence in October

Part of the mot check is to make sure all lights on the dashboard come on when ignition is turned on then go off when engine has been started.. Any lights left on i.e airbag etc will cause a fail.. This happened to me as i thought the same that it wouldn't matter if it was on but i was wrong.. I also appealed but was told the above regarding warning lights on the dashboard..

Thanks for the heads up mate (y)
I'll nip round the local garage next week see what I can do, don't fancy swapping seats every MOT:(
