hi guys this is new to me and need help on a car i have owned for a few months, i have a w reg 1.2 fiat punto, and the steering has gone all funny with the power steering not being functioned. also on the dash lights a steering wheel in red appears, any one know what the problem could be? cant find where the power steering fluid is either to see if thats alright. anyone know where this is located?

also i cant find where the other fuse box is apart from the one in the engine bay

would appreciate your help thanks peeps

the old battery trick? in a matter of fact i did change the battery a couple days ago!

Don't be fooled by the 'old battery' trick.

It an expensive job, Requires a new steering column at £400

How do I know? Cos that is what the part cost me from Fiat when mine went tits up.

Search the forum for it, there are loads of posts about it.

what is the old battery trick and what happens?

i just want to solve the problem with my car

is there not a fuse to this steering since it is electrical, its the power steering that duznt work aswell as my radio and interior light???

do you think it could be fuse coz a few days ago i think i short circuted by jump starting rong? woulfd the fuses for this have blown, and where are the fuses for this kept?

hi, i have checked my fuses, and there seems to be no fuses blown, but the radio and interior light and steering dont work, then for sum odd reason the city steering has appeared to be on now, but powersteering still not working, and there happens to be no fuse for the power steering, well not that i can find

cant figure out the problem of te steering, adnd why my interioer light and radio dont come on when the fuses are fine:S

If you want to check fuses, there are two, one in the fuse box and one in the engine compartment, both are documented in the handbook that comes with the car, asuming it came with the car.

Just take it to the dealers and get it diagnosed, easy as that.

Right about the battery...it will do f*ck all but wrong about the column, all the parts are now available seperately(ecu/column/motor)therefore saving you the customer £££££:) See Fiat do care & listen to what you say(y)

Best thing is to get codes read, this will determine what part you need.

Speed sensor could be at fault but only really affects non-abs 03-54 models. This can be determined by P0500 code not only in steering ecu but also in body computer/fuel ecu.
