It appears my Punto Mk2 has an oil leak. When the car has been driven it leaves a small pool of oil. Is the oil sump sweating or is it rusting from within?

Is a new sump needed and how urgent is this type of repair and at what cost?

Many thanks

It will probably be your cam cover gasket, check that first.

it wont rust from the inside as its lubed with oil

I have a 1.2 8v engine. What do you mean that Fiat have offers on sumps?

how easy is it to replace a sump on a mk2 1.2 8v? it looks like you have to remove a cover on the gearbox? or am i just stupid!!!

Fairly easy, need to remove manifold, you also need both a small and large socket set as a couple of the bolts are hard to get too.

yer my sump went on my MK2, it cost me £90 to get done (parts and labour)

Not at a fiat garage
