My HLX has remote central locking as standard and the rubber button on the key has worn away and eventually a piece fell off. However, the actual button inside still works but I have to get my thumbnail right in there to be able to press it.



Doesn't look that deep from the picture but I can assure you that the rubber was quite thick - although not thick enough to last the number of years this key has been used.

Do I have to get a whole new key? Or can I somehow open it up and shove something in there to make it easier to press again?

You should be able open the fob, take out the circuit board and place it into a whole new key/case.

A car security/locksmith will be able to help, and be cheaper than your local Fiat Dealer - who probably use the local guy anyway.

how wierd that exact samething has just happend tome are you sure you havent got my keys ? lol anyway just for info asked fiat yesterder for price of brand new key fully programed £92 lol

Thanks for the info guys. For now I've taken that rubber bit off, easier than I thought, and it makes it easier to press now. Not the perfect solution but I can live with it for now...



I might keep a look out on eBay to see if anyone has just the key's shell to buy so I can pinch the rubber button from it
