I recently got a new Pioneer head unit with 50W per channel output.
Running it though the factory-fitted door speakers means I have to turn the bass down and loudness off otherwise the door rattles and I get all sorts of problems, it sounds crap basically. So Today I've got two replacement front Sony speakers rated at 110W.

Will fitting these cure the problem or is it a case of padding the door with something to dampen the resonence? Is it simply that the old speakers can't cope with 50W?

Thankls 4 your help!!!

Hi mate,
I would say its the door that needs padding as the rattle is probably the vibration shaking through the panel and door card. Changing the speakers would give you probably more clarity and better sound but if you want bass get a setup with a nice kicker sub

Sensible mods go far

Definitely worth getting a sub, saves you having to run bass through the "normal" speakers so they'll sound much clearer - and it'll go louder :D

Thanks for the info so far.

I will probably get a sub eventually then, seems like the best option.

In the meantime what do you reccomend for padding the door?

Cheers......
