Does anyone have a clue what is wrong with my Punto please?

I had a really loud grinding noise coming from my brakes so took it to garage 3 days ago and they said the metal guard was rubbing on my discs so he bent it back out of the way and no more problems.

Then yesterday noise returned but this time it is constant whenever my wheels are turning, just been out in it today and I heard a really loud bang, then there was a burning smell and now I have hardly any braking power at all.

Am I likely to die if I drive it anywhere?

don't drive if you think there is a problem with the brakes. where did the big bang come from, and what was the car doing at the time. Braking/acceleration/engine braking. Did the big bang sound like something jamming up in the brakes, or did it sound it could've been a pressure seal blowing out and loads of air escaping?

I'm thinking master cylinder, non return valve or the pipe the links the inlet manifold to the master cylinder has split.

yup dont drive it!!!
open the bonnet and on the picture below you will see a black lid with a blue circle on top.on the right of the pic.near the back of the engine bay.
this unscrews and should reveal a container filled with fluid.

Not sure where the bang came from but it happened when I was braking. Not really a bang more like a loud metallic thump if that makes sense.

The grinding noise is def coming from the front of the car and got louder after I heard the bang/thump.

Can't see that any fluid is leaking and the brakefluid cap appears to be under my battery, which is stupid so can't get to it to see what the level is. My engine doesn't look anything like that picture and my manual is poo, doesn't look anything like my engine either! And I can't find anything else that could be my brake fluid.

I know it was possible for badly worn pads to slide out of Uno cailpers under braking, don't know if the Punto is the same but symptoms sound very similar.
