Okay hello everyone out there, need some help with a query i have. Ive got a Fiat Punto 2002 Active Sport 1242cc with around 24000miles on the clock. When do i need to get a Cambelt change on this?

Also ive got a prob when i start up the car first thing, there is a screaching sound ( Yeah Ive pulled out the Cat and the odd squirrell with no success ) I suppose this could be the Fanbelt needs tightening maybe....( Would this drain the battery if not tightened aswell??)

Any help would be greatful on this....

I was going to get the Cambelt Changed in May but just wanted to know if its worth getting done now or next year....

The cambelt should be changed at around 60k or 5 years whichever comes first, so you could leave it till next year/end of this year to change.

Regarding the noise, it could be the fanbelt needs changing/tightening not too sure, but I wouldn't have thought it would drain your battery

if your alternator belt isnt tensioned correctly, it may be slipping the alternator pulley. therefore your battery may not be recieving full charge from the alt.
