hi, ever since i've had the car, which is prob about 3yrs now, every now and then when i brake, an amber warning light comes on. it will go out if i take my foot off the brake - even if i put my foot back on the brake immediately it doesn't come back on again. up until now, since the brakes have always worked well, i've figured it's only an electrical connection problem but recently it's simply started to bug me and i'd like to know for sure that it isn't serious.

any ideas?

Does it happen when you're a bit low on fuel? The act of braking means the fuel gushes to the front of the tank, meaning the gauge goes down a bit and the amber warning light for low fuel flashes on. Then it will go off once the gauge recovers. Thats the only amber warning light I know of on the dash.

The only other light I can think of, which is unlikely is the light telling you one of your break lights are out.

My Mk2 Sporting does this too. Is it an amber bulb symbol? Something to do with a bad earth somewhere , someone on here told me :) and a guy at the local FIAT garage. He reckoned it to be failry common
If it comes on and stays on then it means one of your bulbs has gone.

yea i have the same problem with my mk2 punto sporting think its a common fault nothn to be worried about however i had mine fixed altely and feels good, however it started coming back on now when i brake used ot be constant cant be arsed now been told its not gonna cause any problem dont worry dude

cheers for your replies, i managed to find my manual under a load of junk in the cupboard under the stairs and it is indeed a warning of possible lamp failures. i checked them all and they're fine so i'll go with a bad connection somewhere as you guys mentioned. is it a bad connection between the lamp and the warning light though, or is it more serious and a bad connection at one of the brake lights? i ask because i'm a bit of a hard braker and would appreciate my lights giving people behind me due warning!
