Hello!

Does anyone have any ideas how to keep a black fiat punto black? It gets very dirty easily which I understand. But, when you wash it seems to leave streaks. Anyone have any secrets or ideas?

Thanks!!!

:)

get that special stuff put on it...erm, platinum protection. dont know if u can get that done after its been bought from a garage (i got it done when buying) but it seems to keep mine sparkling ! ok, so i may b being a tad naive forkin out so much for it, and it might not b that that keeps it from streakin, but hey....

Hi. Yeah, I have a black 'un too. Relax, it's still the sexiest colour. Black is always the new black :p

I tell you what helps. Wash it, dry it with a proper chamois leather (don't use a nasty synthetic one, except on maybe the windows) and maybe take it for a run and let it dry. Then polish it. Any of the decent polishes will do, turtle wax is good, the autoglym range is great. If you're really lazy you can even get a power polisher. Get a good buff up and it'll shine like a new car.

After this loving effort you'll find it'll actually be much easier to clean, and water will just run off it when it rains. In fact, mine's due for a wash and a polish now and I might even do it today if it looks liek it might stop raining for five minutes :)

My punto is also black, i never have any probs with streaking, i just wash it, dry it with a microfibre cloth nd then polish it with a microfibre cloth too, easy as that [8D]

you lot always say u have no problems.
I dont have any problems with streaks as dry with chamois thing but I do have a problem that stone chips come easily and when I touch up (with the proper colour) it stands out!!

also some of the paint is starting to fade where soap has been sitting for only 5 mins!!

car is only a v reg too.

I have the same prob with stone chips and am thinking about using paint protection film (folia tec) on my bonnet to see if tht helps.
The prob is so bad on mine at the mo its gonna be easier to get a new bonnet :(, complete with vents [8D].

Black is the way i agree. Pritch knows his stuff, AutoGlym is the nutz. Best stuff in the world.

Wash, leather, spin round block, polish, buff and a vac and yours will look like a sexual Tyrannosaurus... just like mine

(aint predetor great)

Did you have the fish? No...I ate it.

I have a black beast as well!!! lol

I use some kind of black polish by the same people who make t-cut, and its excellent. Also, theres something you can buy in aerosol sprays called back to black which you spray on any black trim (engine bay, door handles, mirrors, bumb strips etc) and then buff it off and it brings them back to black (funnily enough!). if you use it repeatedly it brings it back to nearly new condition...

My car is nearly nine years old. But look what a couple of hours of loving can do!

Clean as a baby's b-t-m!

Involved: powerwash, then shampoo wash, hot rinse, cold rinse, chamois dry, a quick spin, leave overnight, polish (Turtle wax), Back to Black (Simonitz) and hey presto, looks new.

And let me tell you doing the wing mirrors is a right bastard, especially as back to black doesn't get on with paint too well, or glass for that matter (put the windows down).

And it seems I missed a spot on the bumpers, or maybe that's a photo anomaly. It's too dark outside to go and tell now. I hope I haven't, or else I'm fired |)

i think i might just get my whole bonnet sanded then resprayed, with vent put in for good measure!

unless anyone knows where i can get bonnets for cheap with vents in, bearing in mind these will have to be painted too.

dawnoftime, what is this paint protection film thing you talk about?
after i have got a new bonnet or repsray i want to try and strengthen the paint as best i can so that this doesnt happen again for a while.

any ideas anyone?

Its a film on a roll, made by folia tec, that you stick on ur bonnet that protects it from stone chips. Not sure how good it is, only saw it a couple of days ago, it sounded like a good idea.
What sort of vent are you getting. I've been looking at the F50

i dont know mate, could just get a custom one made, owuld cost that much with this bloke up here (dirt cheap).
Not a cheesy stick on one. need a proper one.
Problem is ive never seen a list of vents so dont know what they would look like if they would even look good a punto.
dilema.
