Hi. I've just started to install a central locking kit in my MK2 Punto.
I've got a problem, where do I send the wires? I've noticed that there is a plug
and socket kind of affair between the door and the car instead of the conventional rubber pipe to push the wires through.

What would you suggest to get the wires through? It seems that all this plug/socket carries is the woofer + Tweeter (I have no electric windows/wing mirrors).

Thanks in advance for any help.

P.S has anyone fitted central locking to a MK2 Punto? Got any tips pointers, or pics?

Thanks.......

Happy New Year!!

Hi, thanks for your speedy reply... That's not a bad idea but i've looked at the connection and it looks difficult and awkward to get to, is there an easier option??
I'm also having a bit of trouble mounting the connector on the door pin that links to the motor rod. Anyone got any ideas? Again if anyone has fitted central locking to a MK2 Punto I would appreciate any help... Thanks Again....

Hi, I'll probably take the door off then, good idea and easier in the long run I think.

The problem with the rod is that I can't seem to mount the motor and rod in line with the existing door pin, it's kind of at an angle. I'm not sure if this matters in terms of it's operation. Any ideas?

Thanks so far for your advice it's been most helpful!!

you want it as straight as possible to save wear on the solenoid, depends how much play there is on the connecting rod as to how much of an angle you can get away with.have you considered mounting the solenoid closer and then bending/modding the rod to give you an angle.its one of these jobs where you just have to look at the door, there usually awkward buggersB)

I really wouldn't recommend taking the door off.

Unplug the connectors between the car and the door, what is left in the door (the plug) can be twisted out so you can solder to the unused connectors on the back, same with the plug on the other side.
The connector should have all the wires in already but you can check with a multimeter. If not you will have to buy some for a higher speced car.
