Hi,
Has anyone changed the oil in their mk2 gearbox? It would seem simple enough but after trying it yesterday, I am not so sure I did it correctly. The drainplug isn't exactly at the bottom of the tranny so you know some of the old fluid is still in there- especially since there is supposed to be around 1.6l of oil and only a small bit came out. So I jacked up the back of the car and more came out but no more than 1/2 a litre. I thought that maybe it was low but when I put in the new stuff not a heck of a lot went in there either. I suppose that since Fiat doesnt call for regular gearbox oil changes they didn't really put a lot of thought into the drainplug. I wanted to change mine because the car recently came back from the bodyshop after an accident and among other things a new transmission housing was put in. Now on cold days I have been unable to get the car out of first gear until it had warmed up and then it was really sticky for the first 10 km or so. I assumed the b-shop either didn't put enough oil in or it was the wrong stuff- Fiat calls for synthetic 75w90. Anyway the stuff I bought was golden and the fluid that came out was green-maybe mineral based-and as mentioned above i really didn't change much of the fluid.

is there a trick to this?

Thanks for any help

Tom
