Dear fellow Punto owners,

I have one big mother of a headache to deal with. Last night my driver side windscreen wiper decided to call it a day (not much fun driving whilst having to lean over to the passengers side to look when it's raining). I stop, popped the bonnet and noticed that the mechanism (series of arms rivetted together that basically go left to right left to right for the wiper blades to work) had come away from it's mounting.

The only way of describing it is the fixing (the arm which has a hole and where the "bolt" goes through) has somehow come away, thus leaving the wiper in a vertical position. I looked to see if a nut or screw had come away but it seems that it was secured by a compressed rivet. I can slot it into place and it works for a few swipes and then does a repeat. I tried for five hours last night with bolts and nuts, drilling thru the arms to mount bigger bolts etc etc etc and then called it quits. The area is not the most ample in size. To get in there I think you have to remove the plastic guard civer than surrounds the blades but to get that off you have to remove the bonnet.

Has anyone experienced this and does anyone have any advice on how to do it? Thanks a mil !
:bang:

that problem is probaby the most common fault on a mk2 i am willing to bet that every single wiper unit will fail on mk2 and need replacing. you have a few options. linkage and motor come as one part normally.

option 1) get part from fiat £100+
2) get from www.shop4parts.co.uk £65ish delvierd

both these parts use simalr build wich is slightly weak in the point in wich yours has broken. they use rubber to make moving parts wich ware out. there is a uprated linkage you can buy.

read here https://www.fiatforum.com/showthread.php?t=29022
with this option you will have to remove teh existing motor from your linkage and put it on the new uprated linkage prior to installing.

option 4) some people have repaired there i cant remember how but i have read posts before about this on here.

hope this helps.
