Hello everyone,

I have been having a problem with my Punto MK2 8v where I am getting erratic error warning lights coming up on my dashboard.

Every time I use my car either the engine managment warning light or temprature warning light (sometimes both) come on. It happens completely randomly either when I start the car up or when I am driving. It/they go off after a while but often come back on at regular intervals depending on the length of the journey.

When I first took the car in, my local dealer said it was a faulty temprature gauge and would order one in. Recently though, the car started misfiring as I was leaving work and I thought it would break down. Thankfully after turning the engine off and back on it seemed to run ok but with both warning lights on.

My question is, I had the ECU replaced about six months ago and I don't think the garage is telling me the whole truth about this temperature gauge and I think it might be linked to the ECU.

Has anyone experienced this or got any ideas? I don't want to get skanked again after shelling out £300 for a new ECU only quite recently.

i have a brava 51 plate, my ems light came on, took it for a diagnostic report for £30.00, it said 3 cyclinder was missing, need to replace coil at cost of £130.00. so i went and bought a coil for £50, hAD IT FITTED FREE! guess what still the same, so after coming on this site, i have been advised it could be the plug or ht leads, so suggest you try the plugs first, then the ht leads, mind you i have priced the leads and they are £28, hope this helps, but you may need to take it, and have a report, as they are all codes for different problems
