So this one has me stumped...
I have a 56 plate one that i bought off its owner as it has a problem whilst idling,
The car was driving great before hand however it stopped one night and wouldn't start again, the AA came out and said it was the crankshaft sensor, they changed it at the roadside and the car started again, however since then the car will not idle at all,
It won't start unless you pump the accelerator and unless you keep the revs up, if you take your foot off the pedal it idles normally for a about 3 seconds then it totally cuts out,
The car drives perfectly if you keep the revs up however if you stop at lights etc, same problem it cuts out,
Since then I've gone down the route of changing the sensors, up to now its had,
Maf sensor
Cam sensor
Replaced throttle body
Timing checked and confirmed,
Ecu disconnected for hard reset
Replaced the crankshaft sensor again
The reason I changed the crank again is because through trial and error I disconnected the new one and the car idles perfect, it sets of the eml light and the rev counter no longer works but the car idles perfectly,
Reconnect it and the car reverts back to cutting out again which is what's got me confuddled,
Has anyone else come across this problem of cutting out for no reason at idle?
It's been back on diagnostics again, it's also showing no codes at all so I feel like I'm trying to find a needle in a haystack at present
