Hi Guys

I appear to be the victim of a fairly common issue on MK2 inner rear wheel arches. My W-reg (2000) HGT requires the inner O/S wheel arch panel area replacing (if such replacement panels are available).

Car is too good to have it shot just yet, engine sweet, exterior bodywork still good and owned her from new so a tad sentimental about her.

Obviously, this means removing the fuel tank and associated components to gain access to the affected area. Anyone else successfully done this? If so, any pointers on where to get the replacement panel(s) from?

Pity Fiat never fitted inner protection or used galvanized materials in such a potentially high corrosion risk area!

Any useful advice would be appreciated. (y)

For my old Tipos I used both approaches. A replacement inner arch is a surprisingly large job by the time you've removed it from the car, tidied up all the flanges it was welded to, spot or plug welded it on, tied it in at the front, sanded and painted it. If it's not too late, cut out the rotton sections asap and patch with 0.9 zintec sheet. Easily bent to suit any curve with a few basic tools.
