Most things are fixed. Recently did both the coil packs due to a fault code. Runs better and to all journeys it starts on the button, idles perfect and drives fine.
However, the revs seem to be limited so when you get on the motor way it stops speeding up. Almost as if it has a rev limiter. It kind of pops and gurgles so you are forced into changing up. Especially noticeable as I join a motorway. The slip road is up hill so you notice it trying to get up to speed briskly. I thought it was just because it was a baby 1.2 8v but after reading a thread on here about Knock sensor issues in thinking it could be that.
I have full edition of. MES.
There are no codes but it's there anything I can do to check it?
Thanks

Could the valve timing be out a tooth?

It's possible as I've not had the car for longer than a year(it's my daughter's)
I just thought the Knock sensor would be a bit easier to start with???
I have worked on cars and my life DIY and there is not much I haven't done.
Sensors are a bit new to me though. It's something I need to learn. Timing belt won't be a problem so I can schedule checking that soon hopefully.

The knock sensor on ours was a microphone on a bracket at the back of the motor. I could have fallen off? If there was a problem with the sensor itself I would expect to see a fault code stored. Do you have a scanner?

My sensor looks to be on the front of the engine but as you said on a bracket.
As per my OP I have the full paid version of MES and there are no codes.
I read a post on here where it was explaining that everyone thinks that no code means it's not faulty and it's untrue. The Knock sensor can be faulty with no codes and cause strange running at the higher end.
It could also be a tooth out on the cam belt which I need to check......

I can now confirm that I have checked the timing belt and it looks perfect.
What a ballache doing it though. How much stuff to take off to do it!!
Strange thing is it will rev to 6k at idle but not when driving.
I also checked the plugs and gaps and all seems fine.

Fuel pressure? Might be as simple as the filter.

Yes, that is a good idea. The filter is inside the tank, on the fuel pump. If you haven't touched it in a while, for sure you'll find it to be dirty.
If you get to it, take all the necessary caution mesures, start by disconnecting the battery and make sure no flame source is nearby. Good luck!

Just got the puncture repaired and drive it.
It really is pokey. It goes very well but just won't go over 3600 revs.
Is this perhaps an ecu limit thing.
It doesn't matter what great you are in?

3600 revs is not very high.

Did you check the petrol pressure at the schrader valve near the engine? Should be 3 bar.
