(G) MOT prep

My 04 1.2 active sport is due its first mot since I got it. What are the common fails to look out for and fix before it goes in?

Emissions atm...my thoughts why?...most of us arnt out and about doing the miles we 'used' to and subsequently the system doesnt get hot enough so the cat/o2 sensors dont read as they would under more normal circumstances,
Use a bottle of catclean. Follow the instructions and before the MOT drive it like you stole it on a safe road so it gets nice and hot/clean before its tested.
Air filter/plugs etc check and replace if neccessary. It wouldnt hurt none to spray carb/brake cleaner down into the throttle body either. Make sure its clean and seats cleanly in the bore. I use a toothbrush.

Bulbs..
Screenwash and wipers
Tyres.. bulges. Cracking and tread

Thats the cheap and easy stuff

No underbody weak points?

Not that are quick and easy..

If brakes work and suspension is quiet

Just submit it for the test


Welding is @£400 per side..

So just see what is needed

My '01 1.2 Mia got advisories in December for corrosion to underside and brake discs and pads worn. But I have seen some people get fails for underside corrosion.
