Hi there, trying to add a new radio unit into the fiat (still got the factory new one) but I'm struggling to find a ISO adapter for the radio unit. Looking for something with this port, for the standard MK2 port for the power?

I currently have the plug built to fit a port like this

Difference between the two radio units is that one pulls out to a larger screen (the blue fuse one) which I prefer.

Also what I've noticed is the fuse colours changed. Is that a big deal between the blue and the red? Should I find something which is a red fuse instead?

Lastly, is it as simple as just adding an adapter and plugging it in or am I gonna experience a massive electrical explosion and blow half the cars electric wiring?

Might be some obvious questions here but I really have no clue and would like all the help please! :)

Thank you!

On a mk2 punto you’ll need to put your own live feeds in anyway as the standard radio has canBus lines on what would be the power on a normal iso block.

Secondly the new radio should come with its own adaptor for the connection it has then a lead to a normal iso block, this is how almost every aftermarket radio does it. I’d contact the seller and see if it has the wiring you need.

I will be honest, I don't know what any of this means :/ Could you explain it as if I were a child or something? As degrading as that is, please.

Regarding their adapters, it does come with an adapter one side of it is just loose wires that I'll have to connect and I assume it would require taking the block off and correctly wiring up the wires but I'd prefer to just use an adapter for the current ISO block and link it into the unit with their required ISO block.

When you buy a radio/head unit, if it doesn’t have ISO plugs on the back then it will usually come with the adaptor lead to then connect it to the iso plugs.

Fiat in there terrible wisdom did not keep the wiring in the iso plugs in the car the same as they should be, therefore you will need to modify the wiring anyway.

You will need to put a connection in for ignition live and for the power, therefore the fuse in the back of the radio won’t matter as you’ll have to put new wires in to provide the power.

Could you or anybody whose just browsing clarify if this is essentially what I need to do?

Found this forum post but just need to double clarify, especially as theres a few different details here.

https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-mk2-2b-guides/315587-mk2b-stereo-wiring-help.html

I locate the constant 12v power lead which would be where the cig lighter is as that's constant 12v power.

and I expose the copper wiring and connect (solder) an additional wire to the yellow wire (whichever unswitched lead colour it is, which can someone just clarify what it's meant by unswitched aftermarket stereo lead? )

So to simple it down, find constant power, which is the cig lighter. Get extra wire (black as used above in that post) connect said black wire from the constant 12v lighter wire to the yellow wire (which is the unswitched lead? again, don't know what that is.)

Also say if I'm trying to do it to a port like this

And the wiring they provide is this

Is everything described here still the same process? Except for I would need a cable like this right?
