Ive just acquired a tidy 2004 1.2 8v Punto, fsh with just 41k on the clock.

Sadly it came with only one key and would like a spare, its just the normal non remote key with what I assume is an integral transponder chip.

Main dealer aside, what is the cheapest/easiest option for replacement?

Thank you

Well as a for instance, I decided to keep and re use my Bravo spares with the Pandas. I got new key blades from a local locksmith and recently tried to re program the plips. I was soon greeted with a message that then key chip does not match the car type, so dont try any keys unless from a similarly aged car of the same model.

My next step is to see if the locksmith can replace the chips in the key remote plip with Panda ones but that will cost. I'm not about to lash out £199 from the dealer though as I did with our oldest Panda. Key programming with MES is simple and I hear that there is no longer a charge getting the ECU code from the dealers.

Keep us posted if you find a solution as I have two Pandas and want remote keys for both.

My Local auto locksmith can provide keys but expect between £40-70 each.

I paid £70 to our local locksmith for a spare key for my 2003 Mk 1. It only took about 5 minutes, and works fine.
