Has any of the mk2 sporting owners found that the car runs better with the standard air box with drilled holes in the casing? i've tried k&n and pipercross and still the standard box is better, gonna try a replacement panel filter next, any suggestions on wot to go with?[}]

hi there i've got a mk2 sporting 2002 and i have drilled holes in front of the casing in the shape of 5 dices the size of the drill was about 15mm!the filter is a metallic colombo.and yes the cars goes just perfect.inform me of your proggres!thanks!!
