Replaced my head gasket and rocker and inlet/exhaust manifold + bolts about 7-8weeks ago, did a pressure test today and cylinder No.2 (from cam belt end) is down about 40psi on the others!!! I had head skimmed (£25 at uni, they do it for a living) and had used a decoke canister before I did it all too (it was very clean, either the decoke worked or the punto has a v.clean burn!), and not sure why this has happened?

Anyway, the other thing I have going is my clutch, bought a kit ages ago and a 6speed box to fit, already determined now that the clutch WILL fit the box, BUT I don't think I need a new clutch! Have driven two others puntos immediatly after mine this wkd, both with clutchs brand new (I know as I bloody did them, and BTW cable ties are a godsend, they keep all the ancillories tied up much better than string as suggested in manual(y) ) and they both bite as low as mine, just mine seems to not actually engage better until much further up travel, I already determined that there was a leak down No.1 cyl end of block, But thought it was head or rocker gasket weeping, now am pretty sure it has come from crankshaft oil seal, Heres the question, COULD THE No.4cyl END OF ENGINE BE LEAKING OIL ONTO CLUTCH CAUSEING IT TO FEEL SO STICKY/BINDING AND CAUSE A BIT OF SLIPPAGE?? And if so where can I get a kit that incorporates the head gasket AND crankshaft oil seals??

thanks all.

thanks guys, got one in a set here in sunderland, got whole engine gasket kit inc sump seal and crankshaft seals for £24 also inc bolts in the packet! So am going to do this over the next week or so.

Jr got to drive back your way tommorrow, but rocker is actually leaking now, so am going to have to do that at least real early in the morning!
Thanks for the offer anyway though!

No problem, let us know if you have any trouble (y)

sorry I was just partly drunk, whatever time it was -10hours is wayyy too much to think about when I wrote that. whenever that was.

forgot to say, today cleaned all engine down with that engine degreaser stuff (its pretty potent and will strip paint like nitromors does!) and driven it about 200miles, 50 of which were four to the floor style (serioulsy my foot didn't leave the floor for 50miles except when changing gear, bloody slow car) and used quite an amount of fuel (think I avg ~20mpg over that 50miles) with some STP engine fuel treatment £15 stuff, so hopefully any remaining black crap in engine might be gone now, and good news, no oil leaks! rocker is sealed totally shut (old gasket was just hard and crispy, cam pulley end and ignition end were totally gone, and bits of melted looking gasket were hanging out both sides (some bits were floating around in oil, so will have to flush engine now!!). got the rest of gaskets and clutch to do at weekend, + rebuild a mates 1.6l ford x/flow (which was overbored to an unknown amount, so we mesured it at 83.2mm bore, which is ~1700cc, its bolted to a 1990 westfield SEI kit car, goes like stink when its not stinking you out from fumes from burning engine/melted p/rings/ probably no head gasket atall etc) over the weekend aswell, oh and I've got to take mates kayaking at middlesborough on the barrage again.
