One of the rear hatch support struts on my wife's 2002 Punto failed today - it made a much louder than usual hissing noise as it was opened, and oil had leaked out. I'm assuming the strut is non-repairable? That being the case, is replacement a reasonably simple DIY job, and roughly how much should I have to pay for the part?

Easy replace. Flea bay cheap struts, cover clips off and pull off.

A small screwdriver to prise up the spring clip.. then the cup will release from the fixed ball
