Hello, i have a problem where sometimes upon starting the car (occurs on cold starts) there is a rather odd loud whirring noise coming from under the timing belt cover. The noise is very audible from both the inside and outside of the car. It lasts for around 2-3minutes regardless of immidiately taking off or letting it idle. The water pump, timing belt, belt tensioner and cam/crank seals were replaced around 2500km ago. Has anyone had similar experiences before?

From my experience badly tensioned belts cause constant noise that doesnt go away no matter the circumstance. It has a fixed tensioner which i set with bent needle nose pliers because i dont really have the fiat tool for it. This is my third time doing the timing belt on a punto and of course its going to be my personal one that decides to be annoying :D

I did disconnect the alternator and the noise was still there.

It bugs me because it usually happens when im not home and dont have access to my tools.

The 8v engine has no idler, only tensioner, water pump, cam and crank so i doubt it is the idler bearing :D but it could be the water pump bearing, id have to check.
