Not sure if this has been covered before but my '04 Punto Mk2b has developed a really high brake pedal in the last few days and quite a stiff handbrake. The brakes are only a few months old but there's very little travel in them and I barely have to apply any pressure to get good brake action.

I have had new tyres recently so its possible the brakes are just working a little more efficiently but as they're my brakes of all things if its a fault it will need to be sorted ASAP so was wondering if anyone had experienced this before and knew the best course of action.

The handbrake should not be firm all the way. The beginning part of the travel should be looser. The cable is adjusted behind the seats by removing the ashtray.

If the cable is too tight it will raise the pedal position.
