Hello everyone, I'm new here and I have a question about my Fiat Punto HGT 1.8 2001, I'm replacing the head gasket right now and when I took off the timing belt cover it is all broken and shattered inside.
What worried me about this except for the esthetics is the fact that I saw guides for the timing belt we're attached to the cover.
I wanted to know if it really is a part of the cover, and I cannot confirm that on the internet I didn't find any picture of the cover from the timing belt point-of-view.
Can anybody send a picture of the timing belt so I could see if it really needs replacing?
I'd like to completely get rid of the cover and go full exposed timing, is it possible?
And BTW is there any kind of coloured belts for this model?
**Attached my current sorry-looking timing cover, the cover is actually complete and not broken but the guides for the timing ARE worrying me as I never have seen such a thing.
Thank you very much))
Edit:
I found out there is only this cover and the timing protector. Maybe I buy only the small timing protector that is broken and remove the cover for engine bay aesthetics?
