From time to time, when I am at a stop, my punto mk2 (1.2 8v) wobbles a little and the rpms go down(lets say from 900 to 800). If it adds to the problem i'm gonna say i also got bad gas mileage (something like 8-9-10 l/100km) and my exhaust sounds like burping gasses at one of the exhaust connection under the car when the car wobbles.I got the car for 6 months now and I have yet to resolve this problem.

When did you last service the car?..change the plugs?..Have thought of removing the air filter housing and cleaning the throttle body/butterfly plate?..

The owner said he serviced it not long before selling it to me. He is actually an acquaintance so I don't think he was lying. Fiest thing ill try tommorow is to remove the throttle body and clean it (with carburetor cleaning spray as i saw somewhere else on the forum). The thing is that the car eats a lot of oil too(forgot to mention it)

Personally Id leave the tb in place and clean with a toothbrush and carb cleaner...when you say 'eats' do you mean its leaking or burning oil?.Ask your friend what he did on the service and what grade oil he used..

I personally changed the oil filter and oil, and i also changed the engine cover gasket (the one with the oil cap). I dont know if it leaks or burns (im inclined to burning but i dont see a lot of smoke on the exhaust and no weird smell)

He was not a friend, just an acquaintance. It was my first car and needed something to go from point a to b, but in time i got attached to it.

Is the exhaust leaking air?..have you had any diagnostic work done?..ie read for any fault codes.
Have you looked over the engine for any obvious leaks?.. IF its dry then your obvs burning oil off either by worn valve guide seals and/or worn piston rings..imho that is.

No fault codes. I think sometimes its leaking by the breather hose, thought ill put in an oil catch can. The exhaust is also leaking air i think.

I will try. Cleaned the throttle body and the wobbliness is still there, although noe it feels more responsive. Ill try checking my alternator cause i had some problems before where current would fall and thing would go crazy like radio reseting or lights going out for a second.

If you have any air leak it will have a knock on effect on the running.

The various sensors that send info to the ECU will be outta wack.

SO...imho repair the leaks then see what happens.

That doesn't seem like the alternator, I am thinking this because even if the alternator glitched for a second, the battery would continue to supply power to the radio and lights. Maybe check for a bad electrical contact.

Also my exhaust leaks at the last bracket before the muffler. I believe it cannot be tightened more as i tried before. Can i seal it with exhaust sealant?

Depends on the size of the leak etc..Is it an actual joint?..if so take it apart and remake with sealant..
If may be that you have to cut the u clamp off..
Or post a picture

I think the muffler was changed, and they cut that piece and inserted the muffler and added that bracket. I sealed it with exhaust sealant. I found one more leak after the o2 sensor and the flexible exhaust pipe. I sealed that too. I'll wait for it to cure and take a ride, then post results
