Exclamation load sensing valve seized

Had my MOT today and failed due to the load sensing valve being seized and have a few questions

Where is the load sensing valve?
Is there an easy way to fix if it is seized?
What would the cost of a new one be?
Rough price of a garage doing it?

Thanks in advance

Re: load sensing valve seized

Load sensing valve on the rear axle
The more weight in the rear of the car, the more fluid is allowed to the rear brakes to help with stopping

Only Non Abs puntos got it as they removed the restrictors on the master cylinder that the mk2 got

New isnt cheap based on Euro Car Parts prices

Labours gonna be high, i dont think many will have brake lines that will survive been removed as there right in the firing line.....

And if your lucky - just hope to god the rear cylinder brakes dont snap there blees nipples off....

Re: load sensing valve seized

A brake fluid change may help before you go any further. I suspect is quite hard for MOT guys to tell the valve is seized. Worth asking what they seen. Do the rear brakes work at all? or are they locking all the time? Do the rears have even braking?

Re: load sensing valve seized

there is a metal pivot that works from the load sensing valve to the back axle
if you look under the back of the car on the offside axle you should see like a metal pin going down connected to the valve body
the pins seize due to the valve not getting any use unless passengers are carried in the back often
if it is seized give it a good dose of anti seize spray and leave it to work its way in,repeat over the next few hours
then carefully try manually frreing it
be aware if its all just a lump of rust then the valve itself will leak brake fluid and thus be dangerous
they used to be about 75 from andrew pages but they have 4 brake pipes going into them and as suggested by ziggy? these often do not want to come out so a garage would want to replace all these pipes
if so the bill unfortunately will be very large

Kinda glad mines been slammed to the ground with towing / loads for the tip regulary

If you ever use spring assistor on the rear... like i did for towing... its okay when towing but off was horrible... rears did jack ****e....

Not sure about working at all but everything feels like it is working and even.

Do you know why this is the only place when you search for the item that this comes up. EBay is a completely different part

Re: load sensing valve seized

Managed to get the part fixed for 45 at a garage. They also sorted the airbag light and my handbrake which I also failed the MOT for so luckily not too painful of a fix
