Hi all,

Just looking for two rough figures for three service jobs in UK£
I have a Punto Sporting (1.2), V reg.

How much would a timing belt change cost? (dealer price vs. independent price)
How much am I looking at to change front discs and pads?
How much is a clutch replacement?

Cheers

Klaus

Not sure about other 2 but a replacement clutch will cost you about £110/120 fitted from a garage.

welll on a mk2 x reg punto sporting.

front breaks and pads at my dealers is £160
cambelt and tensioner change is £180-£200
clutch is £240 ish

these are dealer my local fiat dealer prices.

i had pads and discs done for £100 ish
clutch £200

these were at indendant garages

you will find it cheaper at independant gargae of course.

clutch at independant garage = £120-140 fitted all inc vat etc
front brakes (pads, discs) = £85-105
timing belt = £65

At fiat dealer I have been quoted (will likely rise as they try anything for a quick $)

clutch £320
front brakes £185
Timing belt £245

When I say independant prices I mean HiQ, sent the G/friend there if she can't make it to our local trusty garage, as they are mostly pretty good.

And then there is the garage of faster4_tec, his prices range from cheap to free.

clutch £50 for clutch kit, and a crate of beer (cortina or san miguel please).Maybe some coffee whilst I work too.
front brakes, pads £20 discs £26, and hot coffee and cake throughout.
Timing belt, £17 (inc tensioner), tippex £2, coffee, and an extra pair of hands.

Anytakers?? I don't charge VAT!!!

*edit*Oh and of course, the forfit is I get to take you on a lap of my fav road in the whole wide world (will be discovering more of this 'world' next year) and scare the absolute crp out of you.*edit*

i work at a garage and its £60 pounds for the brakes including your disk.

£120-140 for the clutch depending on what kind of clutch you want either a cheap one that is re-cond or a new for an extra what £15-20 pounds?

as for the timing belt depends on if its the mk1 or mk2 8v. mk1 is cheaper as they take 15-20 minutes max mk2 takes a bit longer coz the engine mount has to cum off which means more labour chrages may be worth you getting the parts and asking around at garages how much just to fit them.

He has got a sporting this is twice 8v.

And you should really use a cam locking tool rather than tipex.

be a bit more then in cost and ya we use locking tools on 16v didnt say out over tipex

for an 8v tippex is a godsend. so easy to mark the pulleys and teeth on the belt, and can save you a lot of time counting, then recounting fricking teeth.

Never done or seen under bonnet of a twin cam punto ( as far as v reg vardy are concerned they are very rare, what a load of salesman bull) so can't commen on the extra work involved. Locking pins are a must though for most 16v appications (well when working on audi quad cam V6 motor, it is definatly a must when you are working with an engine that is worth a fair bit more than a whole new showroom punto).
