Hi, our Punto 188 is beginning to have troubles with the powersteering.

Red light on the dash pop up frequently last week.

This morning also right after the start, when I turn the steeringwheel it dissapears again.

Last thursday i Tried to read the computer of the power steering, but my Multiscan told me he was unable to connect. (all other components I could connect to)

Is this a problem with the ECU, or is this a problem with the engine? Or could bad wiring be the problem? it woudn't be the first bad wiring in this car then ...

Advise would be very handy. (I'm sorry if there is any bad grammer)

Hi! thanks for the reply.

Yesterday I i took the power steering engine out of the car and tried to repair the bad joints... unfortunally my (good) soldering iron from Weller could not un solder the 6 wires… :(

So I desided to plug it back in the car so the misses still have power steering (when it works) and that I will pay the junkyard with a visit today.

I know that they have a MK2B model standing and I also know that that model has a modified Power steering engine, what I do not know if it is compatible with a 00 Punto MK2 (my Idea is to take the engine and the computer of the power steering out.

Waiting for your reply :)

today I replaced the engine of the power steering. all working again, only problem I still have is that I cannot connect with ECU scan to the power steering. When i Connect with the ELM it says canbus error...

anyone know how i can resolve this issue?
