I keep fixing the Punto, almost every week something else breaks!

Today I fitted a new Radiator as the original decided the very next day after fitting new timing belt and water pump to start leaking!

I have changed the sump, lambda sensor, spark leads, plugs, idle valve, exhaust, fuel pump all in the last month.:bang:

I guess after all that I have to get another couple of years out of her:)

Im affraid its a case of
I dont wanna pour money into it

Or keep doing some repairs and keep it going?

Ive just had a massive run of repairs too

New bottom arms
New inner and outer arb bushings
New suspension top mounts
New sumps (filter and oil )
New rear springs and shocks
New flexi pipe and backbox

I spent about 300£ on parts on a car worth 250 at best

Why?
A - i personally cant afford
B - recently jad new tyres
C - chassis is still sound (compared to my last punto (rip percy))

Its also my pride and joy - hes fairly reliabale with only 1 breakdown requiring recovery - the rest is all spotted to prevent issues......

Yes it needs a new gearbox (again.....)

But since i aint hit 100k yet i aint gonna let my lump down yet! Engines sweet as a nut toooo! Not even had a cambelt in over 14years

If youve done any obvious work it needed and ur happy - run it a little longer...

If ur not.... chop it in....

I think when my hg pukes ill still repair and go again..... but dont tell my mrs that [emoji28]

I also worry if I buy a newer car I won't be able to fix it:)

Last Mot it failed due to the floor either side being completely rust through. I spent a few days making new a floor and welding it in. Just in time for the re-test.

They were impressed I had done it myself until I told them my other car was 25 year old Defender:)

But you hit the nail on the head its only worth 200£ but much more to me. We have owned it from new and I'm amazed at its versatility and I don't care if it gets scratched or dinged.

The neighbours think I'm crazy keeping it going LOL.

I am not the only one!

Unusually on the way to screwfix today I was in a procession of 3 Fiat Mk2 Punto's! Although one had a very dodgy sounding exhaust:)

There must be more of us!
