Heater resistor repair parts

Hi Guys,
daughters 53 (mk2B punto has the dreaded heater resistor fault (no 1/2/3 just 4, and wiring to unit is a bit scorched. Need to find the replacement kit that has been mentioned, but no luck on fleabay, they all seem for the 'grand punto, 2005 on'??
Anybody have an idea of part numbers please, have seen kits with both the resistor pack, and a 'tail' to repair the loom??
Any help appreciated

Re: Heater resistor repair parts

you can cut the sides down where the multiplug goes and use covered spade terminals, cut one at a time and soplice in new cable till you get back to unburnt stuff
the resister might still be good but they are only what they are so im sure nearly any pack will slow the motor down even if you buy the 5 grande one

Re: Heater resistor repair parts

Sadly, resistor has failed, causing the plug to melt, and the wiring to burn the insulation away from the loom. Really need the new resistor pack, and wiring repair to do the job properly. The Grande 5 wire unit is actually too big to fit into the aperature in the motor housing. cutting the grande resistor to fit may not be do-able, as needs fitting using the screw lugs.
Currently waiting for a reply from an e-bay breaker regarding one he may have on a car, complete with a section of loom which can be spliced in. (as there is currently little 'loom' keft after removing the damaged bits!!)

Cheers, have managed to source one (complete with a piece of the loom and plug from a breaker) on e-bay for 13 inc P&P, due to arrive tomorrow, so hopefully will be able to sort it out for daughter..
Looks a simple job, (he says hopefully!!) swap the resistor (2 screws) then cut and splice the new loom/plug in with crimps.

Re: Heater resistor repair parts

Just done the repair, took about 40 mins. replaced the resistor, as not sure if it was faulty, or just the wiring overheated. Spliced in the new wiring with crimps, and sealed with electricians tape. Now works a treat. The old wiring and connector were melted right down to the terminals, and bare wires showing.
Daughter happy again, as afraid to use car whilst looking at bare wiring!!
