Hi everyone, newbie here :)

I will very soon be the proud owner of a 2004 Fiat Punto Active Sport 8v 1.2, and want to really go all out with my modifications.

I'm already unlucky enough to discover angel eyes are not available, but I was wondering about aftermarket exhaust systems.

I can't seem to find any but I don't actually know too much about the tuning unfortunately. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas or comments regarding this?

Again as I'm new please be gentle lol...

Cheers (y)

I can recommend Sportex systems, nice noise without being too loud :)

Don't go larger than 3inch though or it will look like a baked bean tin.

Probably a reasonable straightforward option, cheapish, UK made, and a reasonable exhaust note.

K&N panel filter, Iridium plugs, that's about it. Decent correct sized tyres will give better performance than wide cheapo ones.

Keep it simple and straightforward...

One Modification which shouldn't affect the Insurance is to Fit Brembo Brakes on the car, they can be bought on Amazon.
Set of Brembo 08.5085.14 Front Brake Disc - Set of 2 costs £23.65
Brembo 14.6755.10 - Rear Brake Drum - Single Brake Drum £17.97 each.
Pads are Brembo P23096 Front Disc Brake Pad - Set of 4 £25.74
shoes are Brembo S23520 and cost £22.47
Just fitted these on my Active sport 1.2 8v, no issues fitting them and they seem to stop the car more effectively than the OEM ones

Hi there I am an old fool driving a Punto because I like them:)

In the past I used Tony Banks Exhausts in Leeds for a custom exhaust on my Ssangyong Rodius. Being Korean it was struggling for decent quotes but I found Tony Banks and they fitted a custom exhaust for less than 300 and it came with a ten year guarantee. I think a Punto would be a lot less and you can choose your chrome end parts if you want to soup it up.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
What are your mechanical capabilites and equipment? Do you intend doing the work yourself? Simple things are OK but even changing brakes can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing or don't have proper support for the ca while working on it. I'd encourage anyone to do their own work but you have to be safe and legal. Unfortunatly even cosmetic alterations can be considered modifications by insurance companies. Old codgers like me can just tell them with normally no cost impact but new drivers are viewed differently by insurers and have to be careful. It's best to ask first.
Stricter laws and MOTs are not helping encourage young people into engineering.

Hi, with regards to mods for tuning, the 1.2 8v is not very tunable, or rather, receptive to tuning. My exhaust went and I replaced it with an el-cheapo Ebay one for £50, you could get a nice stainless one fitted for about £300ish but you'll never get that money back.
You could get a K&N air filter but I'm not sure the extra cost would be worth it over a cheap 'normal' replacement.
Brembo brakes will be a very good mod, can never go wrong with better braking.
You could fit aftermarket daytime running lights, you'll get someone along talking about them being illegal due to not having the 'E' marking. I've put some on mine and it's gone through two MOTs with them on just fine. Here is the thread I posted:

Upgrading the stereo is probably on your list, I got this speaker kit to replace the stock speakers in mine, made a massive, massive difference in the sound quality and is nice and cheap:

My advice will be the same as I gave to my 17 year old daughter when she got her first car (also a 1.2 Active sport 8v), don't spend a huge amount on it, you won't have it for long, save the money you'll waste on it for your second car!! Yes I'm a miserable old git but I do remember being exactly the same and wasting far too much money on my first car and selling it for a lot less than I both paid for it and what I'd spent on it!

Another really good upgrade as the days are getting shorter is the headlight bulbs, get some Osram nightbreakers or similar.
