Ok so its been literally years since I fitted a handsfree kit but need to do so on my recently bought 2006 punto 8v. From hazy memory it was quite literally plug and play, black and brown connectors into the respective sockets on the back of the std fit blaupunkt cassette radio, plug in the speaker plug and separate mike into the appropriate socket on the bury control unit. However done that and no power on the red lead at the speaker box end so have bypassed it to give me ignition sensed power, but no speaker or mute. Added a separate phone speaker and it will now ring but not mute. There are 3 leads on the bury loom labelled mute 1 mute2 and mute3 none of these provide auto mute. Not exactly a bigg but it’s frustrating me no end any ideas.? Just had to order front discs pads and springs which is a shock having had company maintained cars for the last 8 years welcome to the real world :)

How are you connecting the mute wire, this is an italian car, they don't like to follow the trend, therefore tel-mute is on a separate connection not on the normal ISO connector pin 2 like you'd find on any normal car.

Yea andy is right - the is the yellow gree blue connector behind on "Some" cars
Not all have em fitted depending on spec

Good luck getting a decent connection... as the pligs aint common in puntos...
Do other car makers use those connector too i wonder?
Wonder if a steering wheel control fiat may have the needed plug?

Thanks both, I’ve just copied some pages from daughters owners handbook inc the bit with tel connections and now recall I had to solder a wire onto a pin for 1 of my kids cars to get mute to operate I hope to have this resolved tomorrow morning—- just in time for delivery of new front springs discs and pads - when turning right there’s a right old graunch and looks like a chunk of spring missing at the top. Then to find out what the orrible rattle is when cold and on light load... not big ends too old to Remember what pinking sounds like but put the window down and it sounds loud and “ clunky” ok. Ok not a technical term but... Will have to put into service my vehicle lift I splashed out on just prior to retirement last year and lift her up and try to see if it’s a mechanical malady from exhaust

The rattle may be as simple as the cover over the exhaust manifold...it's the silvery coloured bit right in front of the engine when you open the bonnet.
Common source of rattles
With regard to front springs...there is a right way and a wrong way to fit front springs on the Punto. Fitted the wrong way they will touch the inside of the wheelarch/inner wing which will give you graunching sounds when you turn the steering, the very thing youre trying to eliminate
