Does it go into third with the engine off ?
If all else is working well then it’s quite likely to be a knackered synchro

Confirm what andy has said first
But yes the gearboxes can be repaired - but usually its to a specialist
The c514 box is used in puntos in general (1.2 8v)
But 2007 makes it a grande punto in the UK
Or punto classic in some other countries

For the cost of having Gearbox repaired it would probably work out cheaper to source a second hand gearbox and just replace the whole thing....
IIRC then Ziggy is an expert on clutches and gearboxes as he seems to eat them in his Punt

If it crunches going into gear and still drives, it needs a synchro...if it grinds and has no drive the synchro has gone and worn all the teeth off the gear or selector hub.and the synchro,sliding sleeve,and gear all need to be replaced,(not cheap) or get a gear box out of a mk2/2b which fits and drops revs by 500rpm at 70mph(if yours is in fact a Grande Punto) . (Check clutch fits on gearbox spline before fitting)

you sure it fits? grande gearbox got different mounts

You mean the top mounting under the battery? The casing is the same but just not got the threaded hole for the small bolt,the other three bolts 15 or 16mm fit using the grande top mounting.
