Hi all, bit of info please if you can. Following service/mot/cam belt change, Punto Mk2 Speedgear displays amber engine warning light. Mechanic checked and said fault code was "unidentified", and reset ecu. Later the same day fault reoccurred. Obtained my own code reader and got P0340 (Camshaft position sensor A-Bank 1 Circuit malfunction). The car appears to be running fine, no misfiring, sluggishness, etc. Booked it back in for re-check, but mechanic says the sensor isn't touched in cam belt change, but will look anyway. Any suggestions please, or am I being misled? Thanks

After changing timing belt I too got some love from the car's computer.

I got P0300 P0170 and P1170 2500km later. I still remember the codes b/c I write down in my iphone notes everything related to the car and fuel consumption.

In my case these codes came up only once and never again. Mechanic said it's normal for cars to get some codes from the OBD computer after changing timing belt.

Mine were "NO2 CYLINDER MISFIRE", "IGNITION FAILURE" and "MIXTURE STRENGTH".

Mechanic ofc did nothing to fix it and I've never gotten any more codes since (6k KM later).

Take this with a grain of salt, however, as I am not an expert (far from it), as when I went to school I was stupid enough to choose to become a Navigator instead of a Marine Engineer.

Hi,
What engine does your Punto have? It may require a phonic wheel reset/relearn following the cambelt change. There is much info on here about this e.g. https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-v/454490-using-mes-after-timing-belt-change-phonic-wheel.html

Sounds like your mechanic does not have Fiat specific diagnostic software. He should not be returning the car to you with a warning light on. It is also possible he has damaged or disconnected a sensor. Ideally you need to get Fiat specfic diagnostics on it e.g. Examiner (Fiat dealer) or Multiecuscan (DIY).
Were are you located? Someone from the Forum may be able to help or recommend a good independent garage.

Hi, thanks for your response. Engine is 1.2 16v Dynamic (whatever that means), and I'm based in Margate Kent. Punto currently with mechanic for further investigation.
