I'm doing an mk2 upgrade to mk2b project. So far so good, but now as I fitted the column switch with trip button, my front wipers are positioned wrongly.
I tried to fool the column switch, as I thought it had wrong position stored before I built it in, but whenever I turn ignition on with the wiper motor conencted, it jumps to the wrong position... :bang::bang:
Can it be that the mk2 and mk2b wiper motors are incompatible?

I installed a columnt switch of a high grade model, with selectable intermittent wiping speed.

If the wipers work as they should, but don't park at the bottom of the screen, can't you loosen the 13mm nut on the wiper motor/linkage,and once loose adjust wiper blade to bottom position on the screen, then tighten up the nut?(make sure keys are in your pocket,so wipers won't start up by accident, and cut/squash fingers)

multipete, Sadly, no. The wipers park around 30° on the windscreen, upon wiping, they move up, reach the bottom, where they should stop, then go up again to 30° position. If I would just adjust the blades to the lower position, then they wouldn't go as far up as they should, then they would stuck at the lower part.

The solution was this: I removed the motor's cover, took out the dial, and put back a little rotated. I checked the good and bad positions before removing and compared. Now I have a good working wiper.

This was the parking position for the Punto mk2:

And this is the parking position for the Punto mk2b (note, it is upside down compared to the previous image):

I actually meant the 13mm nut in the centre of the wiper motor holding linkage to the motor, not the wiper arm to the linkage. As this linkage position determines the rest position of the wiper arms.

I was under the impression that the mark 2 and mark 2b wiper motors are incompatable because I had to change mine a few months ago and the one I got from euro car parts would automatically turn on when i put the car into ignitiona and would always park in the wrong place. I then went on ebay and noticed the sellers of these motors would put either (1999-2003 - mark2) or (>2003 mark2b)
I Returned the motor to euro car parts because they must have sold me a mark 2 one and got the ebay motor that worked. :)

Yeah, that would work as well. One thing tho, when you loosen that nut, the motor would turn, so one must carefully mark or remember the correct position.

Well, I tried two types of column switch clusters from mk2b, and both parked the wipers in the wrong poisition, according to the mk2 column switch.
