Hi everyone.

Myself and my partner have recently found out that we are expecting twins later this year.. trouble is I can't financially managed to purchase another car so my MK2 is going to have to do. I just have a few questions that maybe 1 person may know.. but I'm not getting my hopes up here.

I've been looking on the internet for car seats, but I can't find any sites that will tell me if a particular seat will fit in my car (2002 Punto ELX 5DR), so does anyone have any recommendations to a site that I could use, or any actual seats that have been purchased and used with a MK2 Punto? I'm losing the will to live here trying to find something, and then I've got to find a tandem pushchair that'll squeeze into my boot... which means I have to sacrifice my subwoofer :(

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jordan.

No iso fix points in your car so it will have to be a seat belt held in model.

You’ll likely need to visit somewhere like mother care as they will sometime let you see what seats will fit the belts.

Many seatbelt held in models will fit bit you’ll not be 100% sure until you try.

Congratulations anyway, expect the “travel system” you’ll need for twins, to cost significantly more than your punto is worth.

About 500 notes...with 2 child seats included if you don't go any where near mothercare, John Lewis or the like.

Got to say I know this because when I found out the other half was pregnant I also knew twins run in both our families!

However good luck getting one to fit in a punto..seem to recall all that would fit in a Suzuki Swift was a Quinny Zapp...which they do a twin version of..but it's not called a Zapp.

You will only need 0 or 0+ class "bucket" seats for the first circa year of age. You simply affix them using rear seat belt. IIRC, we had Maxi Cosi and it worked well, the other recommendable brand is Chicco. Dunno whether you can get them in your heck of the woods. Beware of cheap seats sold e.g. in Tesco, I remember many of them failed in independent safety tests.
I am afraid it will be quite challenging to squeeze an "off-road" double stroller to Punto. Anyway, I strongly recommend to protect the heating traces with a piece of clear tape should the stroller touch the rear window.

Cheers mate. Went into Mothercare today (before I checked this post) and there was an Icandy pushchair which literally folds down to half the size of my boot, which means I can still keep my sub! But £750 Is a bit hefty for a pushchair to be honest, so will look for am alternative that isn't 100X the price of the car it will go in

You could always check ebay/gumtree for a 2nd hand model. I'm sure there'll be plenty about.

Edit: A quick ebay search for used Icandy gave me over 800 results!

Any car seat of typical size that uses a 3-point seatbelt should fit. The MK2 has two typical 3-point seatbelts at the back seat (one on each side) plus a two-point in the middle (not needed for kid car seats).

Also, don't invest on the 0+ group seat. It's only used for 10-12 months. It's the 1-2-3 group seat that you'll use for several years.

I've sent you a pm with my seat configuration.

Another vote here for the 3-point seatbelt fixed baby seats. When our daughter was young I had a MK1 Bravo HGT, cannot remember the name of the seat but it came from Mothercare and used clamps to grip the seatbelt, and had a rally type harness for securing her into the seat! It had multiple adjustment slots for putting the harness through so it did her until we needed just a booster type seat.

I bought my double pram (Jane Powertwin which fitted into my Panda's boot) on Gumtree. Just sold it for virtually the same money I bought it for. I'd definitely recommend second hand. The Jane baby carseats 0+ are quite big and did my wee ones up till 15 months. My friend bought Maxi-cosi and barely got to 6 months.
