I have a mk2b and im thinking of removing "refer to picture-dont know how its called".. i think i saw a few cars on here that dont have that, Why is it there anyways?to focus the light?

Anyways id like to remove it because my left light shines differantly than my right (changed the bulbs but still the same, bouth of the headlight look pretty much new,no fog) and it annoys me.

anyways on the right side i have an older headlight and i saw it has a normal screw to get that part off, abit tricky to get there but managable. The left side light is newer and not with a screw but like a clip. tried praying it oppen but it doesnt move.

anyone done this with a cliptype headlight without taking it off first?

Either, the bulb is not in right or fault bulb.Swap bulbs over,if the beam swaps over its a bad bulb. But chances are the bulb is not sat in the head light properly. The head lamp beam when facing a wall should show a horizontal line, and goes up at about 30/45 degrees on the left.

That style of light has a thin pressed steel lamp holder clipped into the plastc reflector. It is possible that this has been mis-positioned. When you look at the lights do the bulbs look like they are straight and square to the axis of the lamp/reflector? Do both lamps look like they are in similar positions in their respectve reflector?
The pattern you have drawn is not normal.

okay many responses.

yeah my car is left side drive,

i assumed tthat my patteren is somehow normal for the reason i dont blind incoming cars, but looking at other cars they dont have the same light distribution.
the 90 degree slime light that shines from the left abit confusing. when driving the right side is from 0 to almost 90 deggres. left side is from 0 to like 0-45 degrees and than from like 75-90degrees, that 45-75 degre blank is really noticable

bouth bulbs are new(same day), privious bumbs had the same effect. so its not bulbs that makes it shine like that.

Bouth bulbs are positioned the same in the bulb holder, atleast it seems that way, bout bulbs are in the middle of the steel holder/ the left side is not sideways or anything

i know that my light has a steel holder inside the light, i tried adjusting that and didnt change anything. also left and right headlight holders are almost 100% in identical position, camt make it any better.

if i park it at a wall my bouth my lights seem at the same hight and the circle on the wall looks the same, the differance is only noticalbe when driving or its just me

What brand bulbs do you use?
Top of the range Philips, Osram and GE bulbs use paterns, not possible with older, or inexpensive bulbs.
And they are VERY sensitive in correct fitment...

inexpensive ones. ill take a picture of headlights tomorow to show the bulbs are in and how the metal holders sit, maybe someone on the forum will notice an error that i dont see.

As he's got a MK2b it should have H7s for the dipped beam and H1s for the main beam.

There is definitely something weird going on with the beam from the drivers side, that beam shooting out at 45 degrees shouldn't be there. The rest of the beam pattern looks good though.
