Hi,
I had the fan stop working in my 2005 fiat punto active sport back in summer, busy with work I got time to sort it yesterday, replaced the resistor and cut the earth wire either side of the connector (it had melted inside the connector block) and put a straight through piece of wire in. It worked great until I came to start this morning the fan kicked in for at most 2 seconds then shut off, I've checked fuses, resistor and the earth wire I cut and soldered all are fine with no restriction to flow....
any ideas ?

The heater fan uses one of the red relays in the engine fuse box. Relay 8? The diagram for Fuses and relays is part of the inside of the plastic cover.

Could there be more damage in the connecter than just the wire you replaced and is the resistor new or used ?

Ah right okay I'll have to look into the relay in engine fuse box. I've checked it visually the power wire wasn't great but was all still in contact so something that I'll also beat check in more detail with the tester.
