Hello,

The title might be confusing. I replaced the electronics in my Punto, and the donor car had automatuc transmission, mine is manual, so the dashboard displays a gearbox warning continuosly. I tried to set the transmission, etc. in Multiecuscan, but still shows the warning.
Is there a way to tell the dashboard not to look for the automatic gearbox?

Sounds like an interesting challenge but I have no idea how to fix that other than disconnecting the dash LED.

I forgot to mention, that the electronics are Punto mk2b, the dashboard is the largest LCD type.
Disconnecting the LED is my last option. The dash also displays the fault warning on the LCD on ignition for several seconds.

Well, I wanted to "upgrade" my car, it's a Punto mk2a, 2002/09.
I swapped the ECU, BSI, dashboard, electric steering motor+ecu, radio (mp3 cd version) so far. Everything works fine, except the gearbox warning.
I tried to use a different dashboard, from a manual transmission car, but the proxi fails.
Proxi fails for the automatic transmission dashboard too, but it is the donor car's dash too, so it is aligned with the electronics already. I even contacted the creator of MES, but he couldn't help so far.
One more thing, the donor car was right hand drive.

Mk2/B uses a Canbus system that is different to the Mk2 which could well be causing the proxy to fail.
Not come across anyone who has managed to make later Instruments work in an earlier MK2.
Is there any Mk2 ECU's that you havent swapped that could still be causing an issue ?

I changed all canbus ecus, and of course had to rewire the instrument cluster's connector too, to fit the different pinout.

Maybe the proxi fails as the dashboard doesn't find the transmission control module.
Maybe my other instrument cluster fails the proxi, because it is left hand drive type.
I'll try to get a manual transmission right hand drive version, and try with that.

(I thought the only difference between the rhd and lhd versions is the faceplate - miles instead of kms, but the fact is, the buttons are different too. That might be enough for Fiat to prevent it to work in the opposite drive versions.)

This might be useful or interesting to others.
I managed to turn my mk2b automatic-gearbox dashboard to manual gearbox. It was a great challenge, I learnt a lot during the process.

So here it is: the dashboard EEPROM must be read out, then you have to change the value of 0x90 to CD for manual transmission or 7D for automatic gearbox.
That's all! After this, the Gearbox fault message is gone, the warning led does not blink, and the dash say Check OK upon start.
I swapped the LCD also from the manual transmission version to get rid of the space holder of the non-used automatic gear displays.

Success! but how the beep did you figure that out??

By trial and error. I have a dashboard for manual transmission, which was unable to proxi align, and I compared the two memory contents and changed it byte by byte until found the proper one.
