Ive had a rough idle since i bought the car , first thing i changed was spark plugs , then leads, coil packs , air filter , no luck . Checked for air leaks , cant find any . now wondering if old spark plugs were useless and new ones are unsuitable . new ones were recomnended by eurocarparts , they are bosch and have R2 written on them and nothing else , arw they unsuitable , any advice would be appreciated.

Also 0.9mm gap seems quite large

If that picture is of the plugs as they came out of the car...then the plug gap is excessive which will give a really weak spark and very poor running.
Haynes lists Bosch FR8 D+ as plugs for 1.28v with a Gap of 0.8mm or NGK BKR5EZ with a Gap of 0.9mm

Thanks , I must be doing something wrong then because my spacer tool says this is 0.8mm ?

Please post pictures of your plug gapping tool , may help work out what it going on.
The gap in your picture is far too large as others have already said.
New plugs out if the box are usually close to correct gap. I like NGK plugs.

I was wondering if that was the case , 80 thousandths of an inch ie 0.08 inch = 2mm
You may be wise to buy another set of spark plugs . Bending the electrode that far open and bending it back to correct gap could weaken it and result in the electrode breaking off in the cylinder during running.
