I know there are threads on this, but wanted to check there was nothing else.

I appear to have no brake lights, unless a stamp/press really hard, have no loss of fluid, but am aware the shoes need replacing - got them and is a job for this week.

Is there likely to be any other cause?? Appreciate the switches are peanuts, but dont want to be barking up the wrong tree (such as it being down to thin shoes)

Brake switches have a plunger that is held in the switch housing by the pedal in the up position. When you press the pedal the plunger extends and makes the switch go on.
You should check that the switch is in it's place and that the plunger is not sticking when the pedal is pushed down.
