Hi guys and gals, wonder if anyone could help me.

I have a 1.2 5 door punto in Spain, recently someone screw driivered the drivers side look lock and got in the car, it's quite common for this to happen on older cars so rather than replacing the door lock etc I just removed the door panel and then removed the bar from the lock to the locking mechanism so the actual lock will do nothing and I used the central locking to open and lock the car, hope that all makes sense so far!

All was well for many months but now the central locking won't lock the car, when I press the button on the key the car locks the opens, all the doors are closed when this happens. I have had the door card off on the drivers side but can't see anything obvious, I would be really grateful if anyone know what the problem could be as I can't lock the car at all now!

i think you mean the car locks then reopens
yes?
if so this is usually because one of the door lock mechanisms has failed,try opening each door in turn and with a small screwdriver lock the mechanism with it with door open and see if you can now blip it locked

Cheers, but I don't quite understand what you mean regarding the small screwdriver?

Where thr door latches onto the pillar latching point- he means there
Useba screw driver to push the lock into the lock poisition and hold it up a small amount higher to see if it locks then

My remote kit dont lock the doors if 1 is open, lights just flash thats it....

What kit are you using?
Original in key?

Something else aftermarket?

Ah right, thank you, I'll give that a try, the central locking system is all original, thanks for your reply.

Ok, I tried closing the locking latch with a screw driver on the front passenger door and after a few attempts the doors locked and stayed locked, so I guess I have a problem with the door locking mechanism, could you please tell me which part I need to replace. Many thanks for your help, I'm getting there!!

Cancel that, it worked a few times but now it's doing the same thing when I close the locking mech on the passenger side with a screwdriver......bugger!!
