Help!

Having non stop issues with my punto.

The power steering keeps going constantly, the garage have checked it out 3 times but still can't find an issue as the light goes off when the car is restarted.

It has had a new alternator, but that seems to have made it worse!

A warning light comes on every time I go round a corner, the revs drop to 0 and everything on my dashboard cuts out whenever I put the breaks on (however the car carry's on going) and now the CD player has started turning off too when the dashboard cuts out.

At my wits end here, read SO many threads but no one seems to be having these same issues as me!

Its just had an MOT & passed (no idea how) so cant decide whether to sell it or try an sort this

thanks

Not my area, but both daughters run Puntos, have you read the posts Re, corrosion on rear light connections. Can cause stupid/silly warning and electrical problems......
Cheers Qube O.

Have a look at the post a few down from yours, Bulb Warning Light.............

You may have multiple problems hear which is making fault finding harder.

You mention a light coming on when cornering, this a quite common with low brake fluid and although the reservoir may look full you need to open the cap take the filter out and have a proper look.

The power steering could be a symptom of a poor battery or it could be as a result of some other electrical issue. Without knowing how old the car is or what engine you have it might be something like a battery earth or engine earth is loose or corroded, causing it to disconnect and cutting the engine.

It may well be the other problems are all symptoms of one issue seemingly unrelated.

Id look at earthing

I suspect the body to battery return is duff

On a private quiet road, test to see if you can replicate the problem first
If you can
Add a jumper lead from engine mount to the negative terminal
Can you replicate the issue? If not its a earthi g fault and usually is sorted with a good clean

As for brake fluid on corners
Ensure as andy says - the level isnt too low

Topping up isnt the fix
Brake fluid loss is either a sign of wear as the pistons are fully extended or there is a leak
